Intestines are the most important environment for activity
of probiotic bacteria. These bacteria enter the intestines,
propagate, and create an appropriate environment for
digestion and absorption of nutrients. The acid produced by
these bacteria in the intestines reduces the pH; and inhibits
the growth of pathogens such as E. coli and Salmonella.
Moreover, the ability of probiotic bacteria to adhere to the
epithelium of the intestines, colonization and pathogenesis
    of harmful bacteria are restricted.
